Keyboard Shortcuts for the Story Editor
Speed up your workflow with keyboard shortcuts in the Exposure story editor. These shortcuts work on both Mac and Windows/Linux.
Available Shortcuts
Section titled “Available Shortcuts”Most shortcuts only work when you’re in edit mode. The Edit shortcut works from preview mode to quickly jump into editing.

Shortcut Details
Section titled “Shortcut Details”Save (⌘/Ctrl + S)
Section titled “Save (⌘/Ctrl + S)”Saves your story draft immediately. This overrides the browser’s default “Save Page” behavior when you’re in the editor.
Preview (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + P)
Section titled “Preview (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + P)”Toggles between edit mode and preview mode. Use this to quickly see how your story will look to readers without leaving the editor.
Note: We use Shift+P instead of just P to avoid conflicting with the browser’s print dialog.
Edit (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + E)
Section titled “Edit (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + E)”Enters edit mode from preview. This is the only shortcut that works outside of edit mode, making it easy to jump back into editing.
Publish (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + Enter)
Section titled “Publish (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + Enter)”Opens the publish dialog if your story is ready to publish. The story must have a title and content before publishing.
Categories (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + C)
Section titled “Categories (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + C)”Opens the categories picker to organize your story into personal or community categories.
Story Options (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + O)
Section titled “Story Options (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + O)”Opens the story options panel where you can configure SEO settings, privacy, and other story-level options.
Upload Overlay (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + U)
Section titled “Upload Overlay (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + U)”Toggles the drag-and-drop upload overlay, making it easy to add new photos or videos without scrolling.
Close Overlays (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + F)
Section titled “Close Overlays (⌘/Ctrl + Shift + F)”Closes any open overlay or modal, including the upload overlay, video helper, and other dialogs.

Shortcuts are disabled when you’re typing in a text field to avoid accidental triggers

If a shortcut doesn’t seem to work, make sure you’re in edit mode
